  1. Default Groups

Have the ability to define a default device group name. In multi-phase projects it would be helpful to be able to set a group name as the default instead of having DM go to the "General" group.

  2. Circuiting layer dependent on device layer system

DM's default circuit layer system can be determined by three different options: (1) same as distribution equipment, (2) new, and (3) existing. We'd like a fourth option that makes the circuit layer system match the circuit layer system of the device that's being circuited.

For example, we're currently designing a job where we are installing new receptacles that are being fed from an existing panel. Our receptacle circuit callouts are coming up under the existing layer system (based off of the panel) instead of the new layer system (based off of the new receptacles). To address this, we changed the…

  3. Minimum panel clearance width

For panels smaller than 30" width, increase the panel clearance width to 30" automatically.

  5. Add load column to receptacle schedule

Add a column to the receptacle schedule to show the load on the receptacle.

  7. Homerun from non-circuited devices

We'd like an option to manually homerun from devices that lack a circuit. For example, we frequently connect switched receptacles to relays controlled by occupancy sensors, so we'd like to show our homeruns to start at that relay as opposed to a receptacle. We also currently show lighting homeruns commencing at relays for the same reason.

We'd still like to be able to select devices whose circuits we want to include in the homerun.

  8. Voltage Drop in Equipment Schedule

Add "Voltage Drop" as a column to the equipment schedule. Would list the branch circuit voltage drop to a each piece of equipment in the schedule.

  9. Custom Transformer Impedance and XR Ratio

Be able to create a custom table of impedance and XR ratio values for transformers based upon the kVA. Currently the default values are fixed. If you always use different values, you have to manually change them every time.

  10. Customizable tick marks

DesignMaster currently supports the following tick marks during an "Insert tick mark" operation:

    • Hots
    • Neutral
    • Ground
    • Iso ground
    • Switch leg
    • Traveller
    • Space

We'd like the option to include customizable tick marks in addition to the ones already implemented above. For example, we include tick marks for low voltage cabling used to dim luminaries on our drawings.

I imagine the customization being performed through Design Master Electrical Options under the "Tick Mark Blocks" section. There'd be a "Customized tick mark 1 name" option and another option called "Customized tick mark 1 block". These customized tick marks would then show up in…

  11. Add a "match circuit" command.

Make the "Select Circuit from Drawing <" button a command that can be typed into the command line. After this command has been run, do not show the Circuiting window, instead go immediately to "Circuit Devices <". The user can then continue to circuit additional devices to the circuit they selected. A double right click would bring up the Circuiting window or the user could escape out of the command without showing the window.

  12. Use commas or spaces to separate voltage, #poles, #wires ect for equipment callouts

Currently information on the equipment call out is all grouped together without separation. We have had this requested several times by our clients who would like this changed on our drawings. To currently meet this request we are spending to much time adjusting these individually.

  13. Swap & Copy Circuits

When copying circuits in the swap and copy dialog, multipole breakers do not copy to the new location as multipole breakers, they copy as single pole. It appears that you have to set the number of poles and their positions in the circuiting dialog before starting the copy/swap routine.

  14. Redundant Ground

Add "Redundant Ground" as an option for receptacles. Would add an additional ground wire to the tick marks and add an "RG" or similar label to the receptacle itself.

  15. Make the note fields for panels and switchboard larger and editable

We need the note fields for Panels and Switchboards to be larger and editable like the Description, Model, and Note fields in the Light Fixture Project Schedule.

  17. Luminaire energy code settings should default to "input VA" for Watts & "schedule descrip." for description

This would save two extra input steps in most cases. You could still click into the box to edit the Watts and Description.

  18. Add a select similar command for devices similar to AutoCAD and AutoCAD MEPs select similar command

I would like to right click on a device already on the plan, and hit select similar rather than having to open up a separate dialogue to pick a device/LVD/Light Fixture device, and then place it. In other words, I'd like to bypass the select device dialogue altogether whenever possible.

  19. Print Full Panel Schedules to 8.5x11 Sheets

Print full panel schedules, exactly as shown on the drawing, to a printer using 8.5x11 paper.

One specific use for these panel schedules would be to be submitted to Labor and Industries in Washington state for review.

  20. Query Low Voltage Device

Query command does not show circuit connection for low voltage devices. We typically have low voltage devices connected to different panels, and querying the device to determine the panel to which it is circuited would be nice.
