It would be good to include Metric cables sizes based on IEC 60364 as Cable Installation Methods & Current Carrying Capacibased on IEC 60364
Hello DM team. I am using Design Master Electrical.
Can you include an option in the software to use1) Metric Cable sizes based on the International Standard IEC 60364 as well as
2)Methods of Installation and current-carrying capacities based on IEC 60364-5-52 Ed.3.
This would greatly set Design Master up for a larger market.
1 voteAdditional wire sizes can be added using the "Wire Ampacities" command. We don't include the IEC sizes in our default customization but they can be added manually by the customer.

Warn users not to Edit Family from detail items
It's easy to accidently try to edit the upstream or downstream OCP settings by using the Edit Family tools on the detail item instead of the electrical equipment or electrical fixture. It even lets you go so far as to fill out the settings for the detail item, but you won't see the results in your model. It would be nice if there was a warning if you try to use the Edit Family tool from within a Detail Item, since that likely means you're editing the wrong information.
1 voteGood idea! We added this check and prevent you from running the command in detail items. It will be included in the next update we release.

Drop down selection in the panel edit window to select top or bottom fed
Drop down selection in the panel edit window to select top or bottom fed panel
1 voteThese values can be set using the standard Revit UI.

One line diagram template of a pole mounted transformer bank
1 voteWe added pole-mounted graphics to the default customization.

Locked Values Report
Create a report of all values that are locked, overridden, or otherwise changed from the default value by the user.
2 votesThe Override Review feature was added in DM Electrical RT 2.1.1.

Per-Panel Wire Sizing
Assign different wire sizing options to different panels. For example, have the minimum circuit breaker for most panels be 20A, but be able to specify 15A for some panels in the project.
0 votesThe option to select a specific sizing option for feeders was added to the Panel Edit command in Design Master Electrical RT 2.0.

Individual Customization Settings Import/Export
At times I just want to push some changes I made, say to the wire ampacities, to our template from a project. However, I am always concerned that other settings my be incidentally changed since the import/export is all or nothing.
Providing a dialog to select what gets imported/exported or providing import/export in the individual dialogs would be helpful. I think the former would be preferred.
2 votesWe added options for what to import and export to DM Electrical RT 2.1.1.

Apply the General Scale Factor to room lighting calculations
By applying the General Scale Factor in the Light Fixture Project Schedule dialog to the room lighting calculations, you would be able to accommodate IES files for standard fixture lengths (typically 4') to longer, custom lengths. This would also allow for the use of IES files associated with the same fixture, but different lumen output. The scale factor could be adjusted as needed.
1 voteThis feature will be included in DM Electrical 8.6.3.

High Rise Riser Diagram
Would be extremely helpful if we were able to create a single line riser diagram, with distribution stacked based on location (bloor by floor). This is practically always required for high rise electrical design and is the sole reason we have not adopted this software company wide
1 voteYou can do risers with the current software. You have to specify the elevation of the panels, either using the “Plan-View Block Settings” button in the panel or by placing them on the drawing. Then the “Generate Riser” command will stack the panels using their elevations.

Wire Schedule
Create a schedule of all wire sizes used on a project instead of needing to put them on the drawing or manually edit a master schedule. Keeping it separate from the feeder schedule would be ideal. My thought is to have it linked to the breaker size. (I do realize there are situations where the wire does not match up to the breaker size but still think this would be useful over having a static schedule)
1 voteTwo options are available for getting a list of branch circuit wire sizes:
1. Use equipment connections and use an equipment list.
2. Modify the panel schedule to list the wire sizes of the branch circuits.

Add "text" to a panel schedule to include the HVAC tag.
Add "text" to a panel schedule to include the HVAC tag to differentiate HVAC equipment on a panel. Currently we are having to edit each circuit and add the HVAC tag manually to make it easier for the owner to identify which breaker serves which unit.
1 voteThe DM workflow for this functionality is to use the “Instance Edit” command on the HVAC equipment. Override the circuit description there. Then, you get the right callout being displayed on whatever circuit you are connected to.

voltage drop option for feeders only
Could really use an option that allows the voltage drop schedule and calcs for just the feeders. Larger projects in larger buildings really need the voltage drop study. But the inclusion of all the small branch circuits of a panel makes it impractical to use. The voltage drop for hundreds of small branch circuits is automatically included in the schedule.
1 voteWe’ve updated this feature for DM Electrical 8.4.22. When inserting the voltage drop schedule, if the branch circuit and total voltage drop columns are not included and the branch circuits to display is set to “None”, the branch circuit voltage drop calculation will be skipped.

Exterior lining dimensions on plans
Provide option to show the dimensions for the exterior lining on the duct work.
4 votesSee the “Duct Label Format Codes” section in our user manual for instructions on how to add exterior duct sizes to your plans.

Revise generator schedule block information and inputs
revise generator schedule block to remove main breaker (it defaults to 60 amps) remove or allow input for bus amps, and show kw/kva
1 voteThe default customization in DM Electrical 8.5 includes new header blocks for schedules.

Separate level for motors and equipment rather than the same as receptacles
At times there is not enough room on the particular view to have both receptacles and the AC equipment. I have started changing the equipment to new "Equip" layer.
1 voteIn the “Layers” command, use the different layer keys to move the devices to separate layers.

Print Load Calculations: Have a Select All/Unselect All checkbox
When printing load calculations, have a Select All/Unselect All check box. It's a bit tedious to do manually.
3 votesThis feature was added in DM HVAC 7.3.42.

Provide 'hot keys' for pop up dialog box.
Provide 'hot keys' for pop up dialog box.
Example: On the Duct Calculations box you could use the following.
C for Calculate CFM
D for Calculate CFM and Size Ducts
P for Calculate CFM, Size Ducts, and Calculate Pressure1 voteCompleted and will be included in DM HVAC 7.3.21.

Add option to remove spaces in 'DMW: Circuit: Wire Callout'
Add option so that wire callout will displays without spaces:
3#10,#10G,3/4"CCurrently displays as:
3#10, #10G, 3/4"CI see this as being a preference, so that is why I suggest making it an option.
1 voteAdded in DM Electrical RT 1.2.1. We did it using new parameters.
The original wire callouts included spaces and wrap across multiple lines, but are long. The new “WireCallout_Compact” wire callouts do not include spaces and are shorter, but do not wrap.

Adjust Feeders and branch circuit sizing based on derating
Adjust the wire size of feeders and branch circuits based on derating. This calculation needs to account for Ambient Temperature Correction Factors, Adjustment Factors and conduits on a roof (even though NEC 2017 eliminated this one). For example, there is an option in DME RT feeder sizing that asks about a double neutral. If we are acknowledging we need a double neutral, it should be understood the neutral is a current carrying conductor and should adjust the wire size and conduit size per the NEC.
4 votesThis feature was added in DM Electrical 2.0.

Provide a demolition layer system for DM HVAC
Provide a 'demolition' layer system option in addition to the 'new' & 'existing' layer options.
1 voteYou can add new layer systems using the DM HVAC→Customization→Layers commands. See this support post for how to make dashed ductwork. It requires a few extra steps because of how we do hidden lines.
