Revit 2018 added a feature that essentially does this for circuits. We updated DMERT to have a “Revit Calculated” option for feeder lengths that you can set to use this value.

I wish REVIT MEP would do half the things you guys do!
I wish REVIT MEP would do half the things you guys do! Have you talked Autodesk about a joint merger or something. REVIT is what were using but it doesn't do a laundry list of things. Auto-populating panels with correct breaker sizes and wires based upon NEC and company standards. Doesn't computer AIC/Fault based upon the criteria needed. Won't let me choose what circuit I want to use. On and on! I talk to the guys around here everyday and the $840 yr compared to $5000 is kicking REVIT's Butt! Please go teach them how we Engineers and Designers really…
5 votesBe careful when you say “never”, right? Turns out, we did end up implementing an add-in for Revit MEP. I’m not sure it’s quite half what our AutoCAD software can do, but it is a start.
You can learn about the add-in here:

Negative Equipment Loads for Open Cases in Grocery Stores
Grocery stores include open refrigeration cases. These loads need to be subtracted from the cooling load and added to the heating load. Using a negative equipment load works for the cooling load, but not the heating load.
Make it so that a negative equipment load is added to the heating load.

Add tag to feeder schedules
by using tags on feeder schedules, you tie your predefined feeders into your one line and eliminate the busy appearance of long string of text for wire/conduit sizes on the one line. If done in the wire sizing tables it would allow common feeder combinations to be built one time and put into a feeder schedule table

Show Panels without Lugs on One-Line Diagram
When drawing a panel with a main breaker it shows a lug and a breaker. This causes confusion with the people we have looking at the drawings. We would prefer not to see the lug symbol so there is no confusion between panels with main lug and main breakers.

Device subscripts on schedules
When an electrical device is created that always has a subscript(i.e. G subscript for ground fault receptacle) that subscript is not inserted with the device in the symbol column of the schedule. We have to add text to the symbol in the schedule to note the different types of receptacles. If the schedule changes the text needs to be manually updated. An option to include the subscript with the symbol would be helpful.

Reverse Arrowheads on Return Ducts
Make it so that arrowheads point in the direction of airflow in ducts.
5 votesThis will be included in DM HVAC 7.0.

Exterior lining dimensions on plans
Provide option to show the dimensions for the exterior lining on the duct work.
4 votesSee the “Duct Label Format Codes” section in our user manual for instructions on how to add exterior duct sizes to your plans.

Adjust Feeders and branch circuit sizing based on derating
Adjust the wire size of feeders and branch circuits based on derating. This calculation needs to account for Ambient Temperature Correction Factors, Adjustment Factors and conduits on a roof (even though NEC 2017 eliminated this one). For example, there is an option in DME RT feeder sizing that asks about a double neutral. If we are acknowledging we need a double neutral, it should be understood the neutral is a current carrying conductor and should adjust the wire size and conduit size per the NEC.

Designmaster Electrical would run on Bricscad
Thinking about Switching to Bricscad, would like for Design Master to support
4 votesBricsCAD is supported in Design Master Electrical 8.3.

Equipment Loads
It would be convenient when creating equipment to enter loads using amps and let DM calculate the corresponding KVA value. Often manufacturers data includes only amperes at a given voltage and KVA must be manually calculated.
4 votesThis is completed for DM Electrical 8.2.

Add footnotes at the bottom of schedules, to allow common notes to be listed/identified with a char
Add footnotes at the bottom of schedules, to allow common notes to be listed/identified with a character in the notes section. This would save typing the same notes every time and shorten the space required for them. The same idea could work for mech equipment.
4 votesAll schedules have a “Notes” field that is inserted below them that can be used for this purpose. The default note can be set up in the standards database.

Be able to change a one-line device block
Be able to take a block that I already inserted into my one-line and then change the actual block without re-inserting it.
4 votesThis is implemented in Design Master Electrical 8.1.

Have Pipes Arrows Point in Flow Direction
Have the option to specify which way pipes flow (toward fixtures or away) and have the arrows on the pipe drawn to match.
4 votesThis feature is finished for DM Plumbing 3.1.

Print Load Calculations: Have a Select All/Unselect All checkbox
When printing load calculations, have a Select All/Unselect All check box. It's a bit tedious to do manually.

-
Electrical elevation label
Create a label that will display the elevation of a device and update automatically when the elevation changes.
3 votesThis feature was added in DM Electrical 8.7.

Batch Device Query
Query multiple receptacles, light fixtures, low voltage devices and equipment at the same time, being able to edit properties of all selected.
This would be useful for adding a special subscript note, or adding a custom load to a group of devices.
3 votesIn the current release, the “Edit Multiple” commands can be used for this purpose. There is a separate command for each type of device.
In the next release, we’ve upgraded the command to better list the values in the selected devices.
