Link room numbers with panel schedules
Use the 'Room Number' field to specify where loads are located in the panel schedules. The 'Description' field in the panel would automatically be filled with the description linked to the load, then the room numbers. i.e. RECEPTACLE 105, 108, 110, 100 or LIGHTING 209, 210, 211, 212.
2 votesThis feature already exists. See the “Room Labels” section at the bottom of this page for information on turning it on:

Separate hangers on their own layer for BIM modeling.
Need to print various trades by color for coordination drawings. I think the hangers would be more legible if they could be a different color.
1 voteThis feature is completed and will be included in DM HVAC 7.2, DM Electrical 8.2, and DM Plumbing 3.2.

Equipment Loads
It would be convenient when creating equipment to enter loads using amps and let DM calculate the corresponding KVA value. Often manufacturers data includes only amperes at a given voltage and KVA must be manually calculated.
4 votesThis is completed for DM Electrical 8.2.

Copy IES files to project folder
When an IES file is assigned to a light fixture, I would like DM to copy the IES file into the project directory. If the original IES file is moved, the project is unaffected.

Maintain Tick Marks
After circuits are inserted or circuit is modified in some way, the tick marks that were placed on multipole homerun circuits disappear and have to be re-inserted. It would be helpful for those tick marks to remain upon completion of circuit changes.
1 voteThis was a bug. We’ve fixed it in DM Electrical 8.1. I sent Aaron a patch directly. This fix will be included for everyone else when we release 8.1.1.

Merge or Combine Circuit
Take two circuits, both with devices connected to them, and combine them. All the devices will be on one of the circuits, and the other circuit will be left a space.
0 votesThis is implemented in DM Electrical 8.3.

Add More Fields for Panel, Transformer, and Other One-Line Device Lists
Add more fields, such as NEMA rating, and general schedule notes, for lists of one-line devices.

Not Include Flex Duct in IFC File
Include an option to not include flex duct in the IFC file when exported for 3D collision detection.
0 votesWill be included in DM HVAC 7.2.
-
Arc Flash Calculation
Add arc flash calculations to Design Master Electrical.
5 votesCompleted for DM Electrical 8.2.

Light Fixture Watts
Include watts as a field in light fixtures. VA is used for panel schedules and load calculations. Watts is needed for energy calculations.
6 votesThis was added as part of our COMCheck export in DM Electrical 8.3.

Diffuser Insertion at Corner (for Ceiling Grids)
Have the option to insert diffusers at the corner of the diffuser, not the center. This change would assist in placing diffusers properly in ceiling grids.

I wish REVIT MEP would do half the things you guys do!
I wish REVIT MEP would do half the things you guys do! Have you talked Autodesk about a joint merger or something. REVIT is what were using but it doesn't do a laundry list of things. Auto-populating panels with correct breaker sizes and wires based upon NEC and company standards. Doesn't computer AIC/Fault based upon the criteria needed. Won't let me choose what circuit I want to use. On and on! I talk to the guys around here everyday and the $840 yr compared to $5000 is kicking REVIT's Butt! Please go teach them how we Engineers and Designers really…
5 votesBe careful when you say “never”, right? Turns out, we did end up implementing an add-in for Revit MEP. I’m not sure it’s quite half what our AutoCAD software can do, but it is a start.
You can learn about the add-in here:

Export Lighting to ComCheck
Be able to export lighting information to ComCheck for energy code compliance purposes.

Negative Equipment Loads for Open Cases in Grocery Stores
Grocery stores include open refrigeration cases. These loads need to be subtracted from the cooling load and added to the heating load. Using a negative equipment load works for the cooling load, but not the heating load.
Make it so that a negative equipment load is added to the heating load.

Smarter feeder lengths from plan view blocks
Currently, when two plan view blocks, for example a panel and subpanel, are very close (say 1 foot apart), the feeder length may be as much as 16 feet. Electricians often ask if they need to add extra length to meet short ckt calc. Of course, one can manually adjust the length in the panel definition, but one should not have to. It should be assumed that this will be a nipple 1 foot long - not run under ground and back up. DM adds 10 feet to each feeder.
3 votesWe added an option to DM Electrical 8.2 for feeders shorter than a certain length to not add the additional feeder length.

Remove Feeder Line Between Devices in One-Line Diagram
Include an option to not draw a feeder line between devices on the one-line diagram. This would be useful when drawing the connections between devices and bus gutters.

Display tick marks for #10 wires
Display tick marks instead of wire callouts on all homeruns in a projects (not just for wires that are #12).
Make it so that P-7 (the Yes column & No row) in this image gets tick marks:
http://www.designmaster.biz/support/blog/2010/08/homerun-wire-callout-and-tick-mark-options/3 votesThis was added in a previous release. In Options, go to “Homeruns and Loops→Homerun wire callouts and tick marks” and set it to “Tick marks for all homeruns”.
