I am becoming concerned at Autodesk will try to squeeze DM out of the ballpark. They have done this in multiple ways in the past by either buying up the competition or simply creating a monopoly where design professionals feel pressured to go with the most popular platform rather than the best one. We have all gone on board with Autocad (most of us have) and now suddenly Autodesk has a new product that makes ACAD no good after all these years. I hate to see such a great product as DM get muted by another such squeeze-play. I have several architectural clients, some using Autocad, some using Revit. The Revit vendors are telling them that they will have problems if their consultants don't make the switch to Revit as well. I feel that there are a millions holes in this argument, but the Architects are listening anyway. Not sure what the answer is, just venting! I have been searching for good MEP software for years. Now that I have finally found it, I am left wondering if its too late!

Writing a version of DM that runs on Revit MEP is not something we ever plan to do. Autodesk likes to continually start over. First Softdesk 8, then Autodesk Building Systems (renamed AutoCAD MEP), then Revit MEP. Maybe they'll finally get to implementing the fun stuff with Revit MEP. In the mean time, we plan to keep plugging away on the platform we have. There's room in the market for both programs.

Unfortunately, we as a company are trying to standardize on Revit MEP, (which is trash in the current version, but in 5 years it might give you run for the money... ). So my main wish is for a version of DM to work within Revit MEP.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, we don't control what gets implemented in Revit MEP. All we can do is offer engineers an alternative.
