  1. It would be good to include Metric cables sizes based on IEC 60364 as Cable Installation Methods & Current Carrying Capacibased on IEC 60364

Hello DM team. I am using Design Master Electrical.
Can you include an option in the software to use

    1) Metric Cable sizes based on the International Standard IEC 60364 as well as

2)Methods of Installation and current-carrying capacities based on IEC 60364-5-52 Ed.3.

This would greatly set Design Master up for a larger market.

  3. Apply the General Scale Factor to room lighting calculations

By applying the General Scale Factor in the Light Fixture Project Schedule dialog to the room lighting calculations, you would be able to accommodate IES files for standard fixture lengths (typically 4') to longer, custom lengths. This would also allow for the use of IES files associated with the same fixture, but different lumen output. The scale factor could be adjusted as needed.

  4. High Rise Riser Diagram

Would be extremely helpful if we were able to create a single line riser diagram, with distribution stacked based on location (bloor by floor). This is practically always required for high rise electrical design and is the sole reason we have not adopted this software company wide

You can do risers with the current software. You have to specify the elevation of the panels, either using the “Plan-View Block Settings” button in the panel or by placing them on the drawing. Then the “Generate Riser” command will stack the panels using their elevations.

  5. Wire Schedule

Create a schedule of all wire sizes used on a project instead of needing to put them on the drawing or manually edit a master schedule. Keeping it separate from the feeder schedule would be ideal. My thought is to have it linked to the breaker size. (I do realize there are situations where the wire does not match up to the breaker size but still think this would be useful over having a static schedule)

  6. Separate level for motors and equipment rather than the same as receptacles

At times there is not enough room on the particular view to have both receptacles and the AC equipment. I have started changing the equipment to new "Equip" layer.

  7. Revise generator schedule block information and inputs

revise generator schedule block to remove main breaker (it defaults to 60 amps) remove or allow input for bus amps, and show kw/kva

  8. Convert existing plines into a room, or photometric area calculation boundary

I would like to be able to select an architect's or HVAC designer's room boundary pline to use for photometric calculations as opposed to having to redraw it. This would also come in handy for defining rooms, as well as egress lighting.

  9. Upsize Ground Wire Automatically

When upsizing conductors for voltage drop, automatically upsize the ground wire too based upon the increase in wire area.

  12. Voltage Drop at Panels on One-Line Diagram

With all the other information that can be inserted into the One-line diagram (feeder size & length, etc.) it would be helpful to also add Voltage Drop percentage for each feeder as well. For longer feeders this is required and it would make it much easier to see the big picture if it was all in one place rather than possibly spread out over several sheets for larger jobs.

  13. Default one-line labels for dynamically sized one-line blocks

By default, creating a one-line diagram generates panel blocks with dynamically sized width to accommodate the number of outgoing connections. This is because the default riser block for panels is set to <Custom Panel Box with Bus>. As a result, a panel that feeds three other panels will have a one-line block three times as wide as a panel which feeds only one panel.

If a user wants to generate one-line diagrams which include a default set of labels, they first have to create a one-line block containing the desired labels from entities in the drawing. However, when the user…

  15. One-Line Diagram: Fixed feeder IDs

Be able to have fixed feeder IDs in a project. Two possible uses:

    1. When a new feeder is added, it won't change the IDs on all the other feeders. Not a problem during early design, but it is a problem when the drawings are under change control. Having to bubble all of the feeder IDs makes it look like a bigger change than it actually is.

    2. Be able to have consistent ID names across projects. A specific feeder configuration would have a common name, making it easier to read plans for different projects.

Also be able to have feeder ID…

  17. Tick marks for #12, Tick marks AND wire callouts if >#12

Tick marks for all homeruns. Insert tick marks on all homeruns regardless of the wire size. Wire callouts for wires sizes greater than #12.

This should have been added in the last release. In Options, go to “Homeruns and Loops→Homerun wire callouts and tick marks” and the “Tick marks for #12, tick marks and wire callouts if > #12” option should do what you want.

  18. Equipment Disconnect NEMA Rating

  19. "set fault @ switchboard" value should be available to place on the one-line diagram.

The available fault current is available to place on the one-line diagram, but not the "set fault @ switchboard" value. The available fault current includes motor contribution, and is not what plan reviewers are looking for at the service entrance on the one-line. They are looking for the value given by the Utility company in its table.

  20. Overloaded Panel Warning

Add a warning to the panels that would alert the designer when the total load exceeds the ampere rating. (Possibly as an X across the schedule when it is updated).

This would able to be turned on or off with a per-user setting.
