  1. Apply demand factors to loads by phase on panels

NEC demand factors currently are calculated for the whole panel, not for each individual phase. It is possible to load one phase with a load type that has a demand factor (such as a kitchen load) and the other phases with load types that do not (such as continuous). The total load on the panel should account for these differences in demand factors by phase.

  2. Use correct fittings

The pressure drop calcs indicate the wrong fitting types in some cases. For example, a fitting that begins with "SD" stands for "Supply/Diameter" and "SR" stands for "Supply/Rectangular", etc. If you have a duct system that is all rectangular, there should not be any SD fittings indicated. Likewise for round systems, there should not be any SR fittings indicated.

  3. Highlight Footcandle Levels Below a Certain Level

It would also be nice if foot candle levels less than a certain value could be a different color. This would make it easier to spot levels below a certain threshold, like fc levels for emergency egress lower limits.

  4. Calculate General and Egress Photometrics in Same Boundary

It would be nice if we didn't need to create two photometric calculation areas. It would be great if one calc area could work for both general and egress calcs.

  5. Automatically Add a "Jog" When a Direct 90-degree Vertical at Wall Would Create an Overlap

Currently, when a Direct 90-degree Vertical at Wall returns back from the wall on top of the pipe going towards the wall, the pipe on top hides the underneath pipe. A common way of representing this in 2-D models is by adding a "jog" in the pipe. However, in the isometric model the jog doesn't need to appear because overlapping isn't a problem. Automatically showing this "jog" on the 2-D model would make representing these cases much easier.

  6. add medium voltage conductors as an option when sizing conduits.

MV conductor insulation is much larger so you cannot get as many conductors inside a conduit. if you're using design master to calculate your feeder conduits it will be incorrect over 600v. I don't believe this is readily apparent now.

  8. Insert Valves on Vertical Pipes

Be able to insert valves on vertical pipes. Valves would be displayed on isometric and possibly also on plan view.

  9. Modify design load calculations and output to accommodate VAV system selection

Modify design load calculations to more accurately size/select VAV boxes. The revised calculations would take into account the heat required to overcome the additional air supplied to the VAV box that is over and above the minimum required in the heating calculations. This will help since the additional air is typically at 55 degrees and will actually add heat load to the space in addition to that required by the envelope and minimum supply air. In some cases this can be a significant load.

For Energy Code compliance, the light Fixture Schedule should include a subtotal of watts for each fixture type, and a total of watts for all the fixtures on the posted schedule. That will help expedite the Lighting Power Density calculations required for Energy Code Compliance.

  19. Error Checking

Provide a simple error checking routine that will look at panel loads and compare them to wire sizes and ratings of upstream breakers. This could be a simple table like voltage drop and fault currents where out of range values are shown in a different font type.

  20. Same equipment in multiple drawings or areas

Right now I can put one-line devices on multiple drawings, but not equipment. Sometimes the equipment is so large such as a chiller that it needs to be seen on the site drawing at a different scale than the electrical plan view.
