Lighting loads - additional options
I like the recent addition of the general lighting loads, but there are a couple of additional things that I would like to see related to that.
- I think that the calculated load should include the greater of the general lighting load or the connected lighting load. The NEC states that the values for the general lighting loads are minimum values and that they may not be adequate.
Ok, so this is probably a low priority because the NEC values are pretty conservative. With the increased adoption of energy conservation codes it becomes less likely that the connected lighting load…

Generator Load Calculations
Calculate generator loads correctly, mostly by being able to specify that certain loads should not be included in the generator load.

Existing Loads & Metered Demand
Include, in options, the ability to not include existing (layered) items in panel, feeder, and service calculations. I'd like to enter the load to keep track of it, but have the ability to exclude it from the load calculations since "existing" would be included in the metered demand load.

Equipment circuit label should be near the equipment symbol--not the equipment label.
We often turn off printing of equipment label/leader, and use a keynote number with arrow instead. But we have to move the circuit to the equipment symbol, because it ends up under the equipment label (which we are not printing).

Automatically Add "ON" prefix to homerun labels for which a homerun already exists.
It is customary for circuits that are shared on opposite ends of a building or from one floor to the next to be identifed with multiple homerun symbols, with all but one of those homeruns labeled with "ON <Panel-Ckt>" rather than connecting with a loop. Currently, to do this, the homerun text itself must be modified, and this rarely works well because that text reverts back to the default <Panel-Ckt> text each time the circuits are updated.

Low-Voltage lighting systems - Transformers and light fixtures for 12 Volt and 24 Volt systems.
Make possible not only the easy DM insertion of these devices onto the lighting plan but also the ability to account for these in the panel schedule and load calculations.

Add horsepower of individual loads on mcc schedules
The MCC schedule doesn't have the ability to show horsepower values for the individual loads. This is important information for the MCC vendor for breaker and overload sizing.

Apply demand factors to loads by phase on panels
NEC demand factors currently are calculated for the whole panel, not for each individual phase. It is possible to load one phase with a load type that has a demand factor (such as a kitchen load) and the other phases with load types that do not (such as continuous). The total load on the panel should account for these differences in demand factors by phase.

Calculate General and Egress Photometrics in Same Boundary
It would be nice if we didn't need to create two photometric calculation areas. It would be great if one calc area could work for both general and egress calcs.

add medium voltage conductors as an option when sizing conduits.
MV conductor insulation is much larger so you cannot get as many conductors inside a conduit. if you're using design master to calculate your feeder conduits it will be incorrect over 600v. I don't believe this is readily apparent now.

For Energy Code compliance, the light Fixture Schedule should include a subtotal of watts for each fixture type, and a total of watts for all the fixtures on the posted schedule. That will help expedite the Lighting Power Density calculations required for Energy Code Compliance.

Error Checking
Provide a simple error checking routine that will look at panel loads and compare them to wire sizes and ratings of upstream breakers. This could be a simple table like voltage drop and fault currents where out of range values are shown in a different font type.
